Up until now I have not been keeping up with everything. As much as I want to, and intend to, it just doesn't happen. I think part of that is because I keep spreading myself too thin and I haven't had a schedule. The ladder part has changed. I now have a pretty lengthy schedule to keep me in check and on top of everything. In this update I'm going to list *Mostly* everything I have going on, and what I have planned for each thing.
1. I am a producer for an indie short film!
Earlier this year, at Wondercon, I met Jonathan Yanez. He is an indie author who writes in both the Science Fiction & Fantasy genres. About two weeks after the convention he messaged me and asked if I would be interested / willing to help him start & run a TikTok account. I thought about it for a while and eventually sent him an idea of what I could do. Since then I have been helping him run his account & as of two months ago have been named a producer of a short film. The project is to turn Forsaken Mercenary, one of Jonathan's novels, into a short film. It is currently getting funded on kickstarter and has just 10 days left to be funded.
2. YouTube is such a thorn in my side. Everyone says how it's a great platform and it's easier to monetize on it. I have found it to just be so much work! From the editing process to the actual posting process. For that reason I have never been consistent. I plan on changing that starting this week. I don't think I will manage to post super often, but my goal is once per week.
3. TikTok oh TikTok. It's what really got me going in the first place. However over the past year I have noticed my views have plummeted. What once was an average of at least 2,000 views is now just 250 views. I did take about a few weeks off from posting this summer because life got way too busy. While I don't think ill be able to keep up with what I was doing last year (3-4 videos a day) I do plan to post at least 1 video per day. I also want to focus more on book reviews & recommendations.
4. Instagram makes me feel bad about my photography skills because I see so many amazing bookish posts, how do people get so creative?! LOL. Nevertheless I plan to try and be better about keeping my account alive. My goal is to post at least 3 photos per week. That and get better about posting my tiktok's to IG.
5. I still have a podcast, even though I have been spotty about posting episodes. I plan on truly launching a full season in August, with the first episode coming Monday August 7th. It will be an interview with Angie Thomas. The second episode (coming August 14th) will feature famous BooKToker Jessica (@Books_With_Jes). I am hoping to have the third episode be about San Diego Comic Con but I'm trying to figure out how I want to format it.
6. Now let's talk about this platform - Patreon. Starting today I am committing myself to being active. There are a few things I plan to do no matter what, and a few things I might do. First off, every week I will be posting an update. Typically they will feature a specific topic or two, and not be a long list like this update. I am also going to start posting all my book reviews within a week of finishing a book. (I don't always post my reviews on social media - especially if it is negative. So this is a place I will always post the review)
6.5 - Patreon Tier: Booktails.
I will start posting Booktail recipes each week. You will notice at first many are ones I have previously posted to my Instagram & TikTok accounts. However, I also plan on posting the creation process behind each recipe. I will also share the moment I come up with any/all new recipes. The last thing I want to commit to is Postcards! Starting NEXT MONTH (September) I will be shipping 2 postcards each month to those subscribed to the Booktails tier. In addition to the 2 featured postcards I will do my best to include an extra item. Weather it be a sticker, bookmark, or an extra postcard.
7. My personal life has been extremely chaotic over the past several months. I honestly don't think it will be calming down until the end of October but depending on how things go, I might have some large news to share.
